Summer came all too fast in the Fens this year. The banks of the local river – actually, it's more of a canal to be honest – were awash with wild flowers. But the local potatoes and wheat desperately needed a bit of wet to get them going.
Perversely it's too much wet that has dampened the performance of one of our most recent buys. A couple of months ago we invested in 50,000 shares at 2.5p in River Diamonds, an AIM-listed mineral exploration company with fields in Brazil.
Although it announced a significant discovery, this hasn't been officially verified because it's been too rainy in Brazil to work. But when the find is defined in the coming weeks, we expect the share price to shoot up faster than a field of genetically modified corn.
